It was during my first career as a nurse assigned to work with young people who had recently severed their spinal cord that my deep respect for the resiliency of the human psyche began. I was a daily witness to the tragedy, heartbreak, and ultimately, the courage of these individuals and their families to rebuild their lives.
It became more and more clear to me that my true calling was not only witnessing the miracle of the recovering heart and mind, but to be a part of that healing process. I proceeded to work with children who were hospitalized for severe mental illness, learning how emotional, and not just physical trauma can shatter a human being’s life. This inspired me to pursue a career as a psychotherapist.
I earned my graduate degree from UCSF in 1984 with a special emphasis on Individual, Child and Family Therapy. My clinical internships included one year of working with children and parents from a San Francisco inner city school, and a year in the Child Psychiatry and Family Psychiatry Departments at Letterman Army Hospital. My therapeutic approach is largely informed by an integration of PsychodynamicTheory, Attachment Theory and Family Systems Theory. I also use tools from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Mindfulness.
Over the last twenty years I have worked in both community clinics and private practice settings with a diverse population of adults, families, couples, children and teenagers. I have helped hundreds of people transform their lives and awaken to the possibilities within themselves.
The services I provide will be specific to your personal needs. The process is interactive. By asking thoughtful questions, listening intently, and giving you clear, honest feedback, I can help you to cultivate a lifestyle that reflects your true nature.
I love my work, and would love to be your partner in your endeavor to feel better.

For many people the hardest part of making a change is taking the first step and calling for an appointment. I encourage you to make that call.
I will provide at no charge, a brief, initial phone consultation, where we can discuss why you are seeking therapy, and how I might be able to help you. If you would like to begin that discussion, please give me a call at
